Auto attendant can help you to organize and route your calls quickly and efficiently. Whether you use it to relieve your receptionist or operator, or as the first greeting your caller hears, auto attendant can be a great benefit to your business.

Do you have the Norstar M7310 phone? Want to learn how to turn the auto attendant on and off? Learn how as we break down the steps for you.

First, you will need to adjust the Operator Status. When your receptionist or operator is available to answer calls, your Operator Status should be set to Yes. When your receptionist or operator is on break, lunch, or otherwise unavailable, your Operator Status should be set to No.

When the Operator Status is set to No, callers who request an operator are informed that he/she is unavailable. They are then transferred to the Menu options to dial another directory number or leave a message.

To set the Operator Status, press FEATURE 982. The display screen will ask for a password; enter 6 7 3 7 2 8 6 7 (OPERATOR – default password) and then press OK. The display screen will read “Atdt avail: N” and you may use the CHNG (change) key to toggle between Y for Yes and N for No. Once you have set the Operator Status, you may press the Rls (release) button t end the session.
